The Dreaded Tax Man
We had our taxes done this morning and let me just tell you it sucked!
After finding out that we were getting a whopping $235 back from the federal government they go on to tell us that it cost $199 for them to file for us. So all in all it was a very shitty morning but at least we don't owe thousands of $$$$.
On a good note "operation procreation" starts today. Rich found out that we get a $1000 deduction automatically for having a baby and that was enough to push him over the top on the baby decision, :-)
So yes be on the look out for a little Lloyd.

Yay!!!!!!!! I had a feeling it was coming soon! Happy baby making ;-)
Make that bet all you want...I'm not.
Hey also my dad said it's better to not get as much back from the tax man cause they are basically using our money interest free so it's like we are giving the gon't a loan and saying hey use our money then give it back! All in all better to get less :-) Although we all look forward to refunds it's better to not get them!
I believe you should be able to itemize your deductions, seeing as you're married and have kids and I *assume* a home also, with mortgage. Itemizing would be the best unless you really want to pay more taxes. >_>
Itemizing allows for more then $1000 per child, especially with the EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) that Bush did. Sadly for those of us in college it only applies to people 25 and older, or those with kids, regardless of age. Yay for rewarding irresponsible teen mothers. *sarcasm*
But back to your tax situation. The kid already has to be born in order to get the deduction, as it goes by b-day, just an fyi for ya. A pregnant woman still counts as 1 dependant, as they didn't want women to be pregnant, get the deduction, then get an abortion afterwards.
A refund is indeed an interest-free loan to the govt., as in you OVERPAID on your income tax.
To the person who loves a big refund, please send me US $3000 and I promise to repay you, interest free, next April. Really. ^_^
And you can itemize and deduct that $199 cost of tax preparation, but my credit union only charges me half that much for the same professional service. Gotta love it.
Till then.
